Are you fed up with taking your child to the doctor and constantly getting antibiotics?  Then keep reading and see how Shonishin a form of Japanese and Chinese medicine can help you and your children.

Shonishin literally translates as sho “little”, ni “children”, and shin “needle”.

Shonishin is a Japanese form of acupuncture that was specifically designed in the 1700’s to treat childhood illnesses.

Over the years Shonishin has been refined by Japanese masters and has become an integral part of pediatric treatment in Japan and European countries since. Shonishin is based on theories from Chinese medical texts and is still considered to be an essential part of pediatric acupuncture treatment.

Shonishin treats all ages from new-born up to 7-year-olds or older depending on the child and their willingness to have acupuncture needles. Shonishin recognizes that children do not like needles and has instead developed specific treatment techniques, many of which are non-invasive and don’t frighten them.

How does this treatment work?

Much like Chinese medicine, we look at Qi, Yin, and Yang and the internal organs,  constitution factors, where there the imbalance in the system of the child is.  Then treat accordingly.

Using techniques such as looking diagnosis, asking diagnosis, pulse taking, looking at the tongue and feeling the abdomen in young children.

What Happens in a treatment

I start by stimulating the channels and acupuncture points by gently stroking, rubbing or tapping with a variety of rounded silver, gold, and stainless steel tools. Without penetrating the skin, these different kinds of stimulation have a strong therapeutic effect.  These techniques serve to harmonize and boost a child’s vital energy improves sleeping, eating habits, allergies, digestive problems, coughs, and colds etc.  Helping make the child less prone to illness.

I love treating children and develop a great relationship with them throughout the treatments.
