Have you ever heard of free radicals?  Free radicals attack healthy cells. We produce free radicals everyday from our daily activities,just going around the place, the energy you produce, also from environmental factors, shampoo, cleaning products etc. Free radicals attack our cells around 10,000 times a day ageing us and our reproductive system.

Antioxidants are your first line of defence against free radicals, it subdues the free radical so the free radical can not do any more damage to the cells in your body.  Sperm is made up of cells, free radicals can damage the sperm cells

Antioxidant Rich Foods

All fresh vegetables and fruit, especially strong colours (black, blue, red, orange, dark green).

  • All pain nuts, Brazil nuts have high amounts of selenium.
  • Olive oil,
  • wheat germ,
  • fresh seeds,
  • eggs.
  • Fish especially trout, salmon and sardines
  • Meat and chicken
  • Try and eat organ.

Vitamin C and Vitamin E are very important in your diet to improve sperm. also Zinc, Selenium, L-Arginine, L-Carnitine, Co-enzyme Q10, Folic acids, Vitamins A, B6, and B12. Sperm need a lot of poly-saturated fatty acid this is important for swimming.

You can damage Sperm several ways.  We generally all know that wearing tight under wear, tight cycling shorts, lap tops on our laps, mobile phones in pockets, to many very hot baths, heated seats all can damage sperm.  But there are other factors, infections, smoking, binge drinking alcohol, burnt food, processed foods, take always, recreational drugs, foods exposed to pollutants and toxins, caffeine, stress, excess weight, life style factors, lack of exercise, poor sleep and stress. All of this can damage the sperm count, motility and morphology

– oligospermia (lowered sperm density in the analysis)

– morphology (high percent of abnormal sperm which won’t fertilize an egg)
– anti sperm antibodies (which has been affected the the immune system)
